Harel Cohen

The founder and head of the “Nezer David” Institute as an institute for research, preservation and publishing, and its director since 1993

Resident of Beit-El. Learned in “Sha’arei Torah” Yeshiva in Monsey, NY (1987), and translated into Hebrew and published some of the Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Berel Wein’s books (today Rabbi Wein is the Rabbi of Hanasi Synagogue in Jerusalem). He graduated from the Kfar Haroeh Bnei Akiva Yeshiva (1989), where he was a close disciple of the Roshei Yeshiva Rabbi Moshe Zvi Neriah zt”l and Rabbi Avraham Zuckerman zt”l. He re-edited Rav Neriah’s first book “Mishnat Harav” (1992

He graduated from Kiryat Hayeshiva in Beit-El and currently resides in Beit-El. Has published the books of the Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Zalman Baruch Melamed shlit”a: “Yesh Sho’alim”, “Eretz Tzvi”, “Tshuvot Upsakim”, “Lazman Hazeh” and others.
He served in the IDF as part of the first religious-organic company in the history of the Artillery Corps. He was one of the settlers of the town of Rachalim (founded in 1994) and one of its founders on its establishment (1991).
He was editor of the “Avnei Hamakom” newsletter between the years 1991-2003 where he published research articles concerning the history of Rabbi Kook, his teachings and his disciples.
He served as the secretary of the Yesha rabbis’ committee during the struggle against the Oslo Accords. In 1998 he was re-appointed as the secretary of the “Derech Emunah” rabbinical organization. Between the years 2008-2013, during the 18th Knesset, he ran the Knesset office of National Union Chairman Yaakov Katz (Katzle) and was his right-hand man in his efforts to unite the two parties of the national religious public.
He is the director of the “Me’avnei Hamakom” publishing house of the Beit El Yeshiva, in which he re-edited the main writings of Rav A.I. Hacohen and Rav Z. Y. Hacohen: Orot, LeNetivot Israel and others.
He builds and manages genealogical trees on the Internet such as: Bazach Levona, Houminer, Five Levi Brothers who Built Jerusalem, and others. Published “Seder Haparshiot” by the Aderet, and “Bazach Levona” on Tur/Shulchan Aruch with Machon Yerushalayim.
In the Nezer David Institute, Harel Cohen edited the three volumes of the Kuzari with commentary, as a continuation of Prof. Shwartz’s work; “Dodi La’zvi” and the remaining books of the Institute together with other members of the Nezer David Institute.

Resident of the Ateret settlement. Learned in “Mekor Chaim” and “Beit-El” yeshivot. Received semicha from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. BA in Education. Edited the talks of Rabbi Zvi Yehudah Hacohen Kook zt”l that were published in two volumes “Meorot Haratzya”.
Teaches Talmud and Bible at “Kinor David” Bnei Akiva Yeshiva. Teaches Halacha and Chassidut at “Kollel Ateret”. Edited the Institute’s edition of “Emunot Ve’Deot” by Rav Saadia Gaon, which was published with the “Derech Emuna” commentary by the Nazir Rav. He was a partner in publishing several of the Institute’s books. He is responsible for preservation and organization in the archives, including the manuscripts of the Nazir Rav, his personal library, and the writings of his son – Rabbi Shear Yashuv Cohen zt”l.

Has resided in the settlement of Amona in the Binyamin region since 2005 and serves as its Rabbi. Learned in Kfar Haroeh Yeshiva, Otniel Hesder Yeshiva, and the Mishpetei Eretz dayanut Kollel in Ofra. Has semicha and has completed part of the Chief Rabbinate Dayanut exams.
Has a BA and MA in Education. Served as in-depth Talmud Rebbe in Shilo Hesder Yeshiva. Teaches Halacha and Chassidut in seminaries. Wrote a comprehensive halachic research paper on vessels absorbing and emitting nowadays. He is currently starting in-depth research on Rabbi Nachman of Breslov’s stories. He is the son-in-law of Rabbi Israel Ariel, a disciple of the Nazir Rav.

Researcher at “Nezer David” Institute since 5765 (2005)

Has served as Rabbi of Ateret settlement in Binyamin region since 1997. Learned in Beit Yehuda Yeshiva in Kfar Maimon, Mercaz Harav Yeshiva, and in the Kollel of Yamit Yeshiva in Neve Dekalim in Gush Katif. Was one of the founders of the “Torah and Land Institute” in Gush Katif and was a senior researcher there for ten years. In this framework, he published many articles on the mitzvot that are dependent on the Land, edited the publication of the Guide to Shmita and participated in the editing of the Institute’s journal “Emunat Itecha” and the books “Torah and the Land” 1-3. He taught in seminaries and in the “Eli-Ariel” Kollel. Between the years 2001-2009 he edited the journal Tzohar. Today he is also involved in marriage counseling and guiding rabbis to deal with national and community emergency situations.
At the “Nezer David” Institute, he edited the three volumes of “Derech Emunah” on Rav Saadia Gaon’s Emunot Ve’Deot.

Resident of Ateret. Learned in Birkat Moshe Yeshiva in Maale Adumim and in the Kollel Dayanim in Psagot. Received semicha from the Chief Rabbinate. Was previously the Rosh Yeshiva of Ateret David Yeshiva in Ateret. Has BA in Education, MA in Jewish Philosophy, and doctorate in Jewish Thought from Bar-Ilan University. Partnered with the Institute members to publish the book “Pitchei Pardes” on 138 openings to wisdom and more.

Resident of Beit-El. Was a partner with the Institute members in editing the books of the Nazir Rav: “Mishnat Hanazir”, “If they Merit the Shechina is Between Them”, “The Blessing of the Sun”, and others.
Learned in Kiryat Hayeshiva in Beit-El and received semicha. BA and MA in the Oral Torah and Talmud. Also teaches at Ofra Ulpana, and is the national teacher’s guide for Oral Law, Talmud, and Jewish Thought. Serves as a military chaplain in the reserves.

Researcher at “Nezer David” Institute since 5777 (2017)

Resident of Neria. In the Institute, he is involved in editing and arranging the writings of Rabbi Shear Yashuv Cohen zt”l.
He studied at Merkaz Harav Yeshiva in Jerusalem and holds a BA in Education. He taught in high school and Hesder yeshivot and lectured at the Orot College and serves as a military chaplain in the reserves.
Edited the three volumes of the Torah collection, “The Return of His Shechinah to Zion” – a Torah view of the Six-Day War and ‘Jerusalem Day’ (5771), the book “Ateret Shlomo – The Character and Activities of Rabbi Shlomo Goren zt’l” 5(778 – 2018) and was sub-editor of the book “Treasures of Rav A.I. Kook”, Volumes 6-7 (5766-2016)
